| TYPES OF FISHING With the boat based in Alderney it is possible to undertake many different types of angling without the necessity to steam for hours to get there. Some of the hotspots are literally five minutes from the harbour. REEF AND BANK The waters around Alderney have many banks and reefs, which make for some very exciting sport. Depending on the tide conditions (Spring Tides can run at 9 knots!) some of the most productive, and satisfying fishing is drifting, or anchoring on the many banks. It is then possible to fish with relatively light tackle greatly enhancing the sporting aspect. Species targeted with this type of angling are bass, bream, pollack, turbot, brill, tope, ray, dogfish etc. WRECK Wreck fishing is within a short distance and in abundance. This type of angling has its fans, and can be extremely productive for species such as cod, pollack, conger, coalfish and ling. SHARK Shark fishing can be arranged at the right time of year. This is best limited to four anglers, and requires specialist equipment. The boat needs to be booked in advance. FLY Fly fishing for bass, pollack, and garfish can also be arranged and is growing in popularity. It does limit the number of people who can fish at any one time, and needs to be arranged well in advance, and requires specialist equipment. |
